چکیده
Denote by σ̄k = min {d(x1)+d(x2)+ · · ·+d(xk)−|N(x1)∩N(x2)∩· · ·∩N(xk)| | x1, x2, · · · , xk are k independent vertices in G}. Let n and m denote the number of vertices and edges of G. For any connected graph G, we give a polynomial algorithm in O(nm) time to either find two disjoint paths P1 and P2 such that |P1|+ |P2| ≥ min{σ̄4, n} or output G = ∪i=1Gi such that for any i, j ∈ {1, 2, ..., k} (k ≥ 3), V (Gi) ∩ V (Gj) = {v}, where v ∈ V (G).

Improved Algorithms for the 2-Vertex Disjoint Paths Problem
Given distinct vertices s1, s2, t1, and t2 the 2-vertex-disjoint paths problem (2-VDPP) consists in determining two vertex-disjoint paths p1, from s1 to t1, and p2, from s2 to t2, if such paths exist. We show that by using some kind of sparsification technique the previously best known time bound of O(n + mα(m,n)) can be reduced to O(m+nα(n, n)), where α denotes the inverse of the Ackermann fun...
متن کاملSimple Algorithms for Steiner Trees and Paths Packing Problems in Planar Graphs
In this paper we give a short survey on eecient algorithms for Steiner trees and paths packing problems in planar graphs. We particularly concentrate on recent results. The rst result is a linear-time algorithm for packing vertex-disjoint trees resp. paths within a planar graph, where the vertices to be connected lie on at most two diierent faces 26, 32]. This algorithm is based on a linear-tim...
متن کاملEfficient algorithms for minimal disjoint path problems on chordal graphs
Disjoint paths have applications in establishing bottleneck-free communication between processors in a network. The problem of finding minimum delay disjoint paths in a network directly reduces to the problem of finding the minimal disjoint paths in the graph which models the network. Previous results for this problem on chordal graphs were an O(| V | | E |) algorithm for 2 edge disjoint paths ...
متن کاملEdge Disjoint Paths in Moderately Connected Graphs
We study the Edge Disjoint Paths (EDP) problem in undirected graphs: Given a graph G with n nodes and a set T of pairs of terminals, connect as many terminal pairs as possible using paths that are mutually edge disjoint. This leads to a variety of classic NP-complete problems, for which approximability is not well understood. We show a polylogarithmic approximation algorithm for the undirected ...
متن کاملOn Shortest Disjoint Paths in Planar Graphs
For a graph G and a collection of vertex pairs {(s1, t1), . . . , (sk, tk)}, the k disjoint paths problem is to find k vertex-disjoint paths P1, . . . , Pk, where Pi is a path from si to ti for each i = 1, . . . , k. In the corresponding optimization problem, the shortest disjoint paths problem, the vertex-disjoint paths Pi have to be chosen such that a given objective function is minimized. We...
